Despite the high number of volunteers all over Europe and beyond, it is still difficult to get both quantitative and qualitative data, especially when we want to look deeper into this topic.

What is remarkable, is that more and more initiatives are taken in all the partner countries, be it by National Governments or national organisations to try to invest more in the field of volunteering. Needless to say that everyone has understood what the benefits of volunteering are for our societies. That is why a lot of organisations propose volunteering positions, even if sometimes it is not easy to manage.

Result: Volunteeting promotion in action - piloting

In the framework of the project, pilot sessions were organised in all participating counties during which 150 young participants in total tested the e-learning platform with the support of trainers, youth workers and facilitators.

The end goal of this piloting phase was to allow young adults involved or wishing to involve in volunteering activities to build/enhance their knowledge and skills by gaining open and free access to the most appropriate methods and training content as well as exposing educators and professionals working with volunteers to high quality preselected informal learning content.

This, according to the results of the pilots assessment and evaluation, ultimately equip them with key personal, professional and entrepreneurial/technical competences and skills such as teamwork, leadership, intercultural competences, project management, problem solving and critical thinking.

The VOLUME platform and its contents have received really positive feedback from the participants to the various piloting sessions, across all participating countries. The contents were described as useful and adapted to the target group, both in terms of content and presentation. Additionally, young people piloting the course agreed that the topics tackled were relevant to volunteering work, and felt this would be applicable in daily life. This was true across the countries and regardless of the participants’ socio-economic status.
